Emma developed a passion for harmony singing at a very young age, and made up her mind that she wouldn’t turn down the opportunity to perform when it arose, leading to her being part of numerous ensembles throughout her school and university career.
Graduating from the Victorian College of the Arts Music Theatre program in 2006, she worked as an entertainer for Disney Cruise Line for several years, and wrote and performed a solo cabaret show, Cabaret Does Emma Rule. Emma was a founding member of the Melbourne a cappella group Ginger and Tonic and performed with them from 2010 until 2016. Some highlights from this time include; competing at the Internazionale Festival Für Vokalmusic Leipzig (Germany), performing at the Port Fairy Folk Festival, the Queenscliff Music Festival, the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, contributing to three original cabaret shows, and recording two full-length albums.
As well as her performance qualifications, Emma has a Bachelor's degree in Primary Education from Australian Catholic University, and has lived a double life as a teacher and performer for many years.
As the newest member of The Idea of North, Emma brings a wonderful energy and level of engagement to the role of soprano, and her on-stage experience and presence are significant assets to the group.
