In response to many requests over many years to record an entirely 'gospel' album,
The Idea of North have finally produced their take on this popular genre. With a
number of classic gospel tunes, mixed in with some not-so-classic,
and a number of beautiful originals, this is a CD you can really get your teeth into.
There has been some straying from the a cappella style, with four of the tracks
featuring a wonderful rhythm section, giving the CD even more depth.

disc manages to succinctly mirror the group's current musical direction.
Or should we say directions. There is something for everyone on this disc:
jazz standards, jazz not-so-standards, some big band-esque tunes and fantastic
originals.The
Idea of North keep going from strength to strength, not only in the live
concert scenario, but also in the studio. Check it out as soon as you

In
October 2003, ABC Jazz released 'Here & Now' - The Idea of North's
first signed release. The CD has been in the ARIA Jazz Charts at #15,
#9 & #8,
and for good reason. It features the current lineup (Andrew Piper, Nick
Begbie, Naomi Crellin & Trish Delaney-Brown), with all-new recordings
of the group's favourite tracks, plus 2 tracks previously unrecorded
by this amazing a cappella group.'Here
