The Idea of North has a passion for singing that connects with all ages, backgrounds and cultures. Their education program has become an integral feature of the group's musical journey.
The Idea of North works regularly with schools, universities and other educational institutions, choirs and musical ensembles. Their high school program includes a Classroom Resource Kit; a syllabus guided education package for teachers and students. It covers seven modules (each based on a song in the group's repertoire) across all high school music levels and includes classroom exercises, arrangements for vocalists, choirs and instrumentalists. It is provided prior to the group's visit for teachers to introduce in preparation for the workshops, and is designed to be used as an ongoing tool in students' general music education.
"The interest in choral music skyrockets after they've been here, and continues throughout the year, with the kids waiting and waiting until the next visit." - Celia Christmass, Perth Modern School
